Chairman of the DC Council Vincent Gray bagged my grocery purchases tonight.  I would support him if he runs for Mayor and told him so.

This is ridiculous …… and you wonder why the residents are worried about their vote counting and fraud at the polling locations?

This month, Busboys and Poets was kind enough to offer the second floor of their new restaurant and some lip-smacking finger foods for our meeting. I felt it was a big success and hope we can return their soon. Thanks, Busboys!

Our guests tonight included Chris Otten of the DC Library Dynamos, and ANC candidates Theresa Sule and Jessica Lanza.

Here are the meeting notes.

ANC=Advisory Neighborhood Commission, the front line of our government.  DC may be firmly in Obama’s column (woo hoo!) with its 3 little electoral votes, and lack federal representation..but our vote DOES count.  Local politics have such a direct effect on our neighborhood lives, and no politics is more local than the ANC.  Now I know ANC 6C candidates have no opponents & that commission functions very well, thats fabulous.  And I know ANC 2C has been discussed to death and beyond and back but this is where the drama is!  The last election between Leroy Thorpe and ANC 2C02 Commissioner Kevin Chapple had a 5 vote spread.  Thats it.  The other contests in 2C didnt have much more, these are close elections and your vote matters!
We have a chance to change this commission for the better so that it is run by the people we elect, and it represents the entire community.  We have 2 excellent incumbent Commissioners Kevin Chapple & Alex Padro who deserve re-election for the excellent job they do, especially considering the intolerable circumstances.  We have 2 excellent challengers for the 2C03 & 2C04 seats, Jessica Lanza & Theresa Sule, who are ready to serve this community and replace the inactive puppets of Leroy Thorpe.
So if you have time & energy to spare and would like to help out with flyering, volunteering on election day outside of the polls, or just putting a sign up in your window or yard - anything to help bring change this year! ..please speak up or email me at niello8(at)yahoo.com.  All neighbors who live in the Whitman, the west side of Penn Quarter, Mount Vernon Square, and Shaw, please vote on election day!
ANC 2C01 Alex Padro
ANC 2C02 Kevin Chapple
ANC 2C03 Jessica Lanza
ANC 2C04 Theresa Sule
P.S. if you arent sure which ANC single member district you reside in, here is a handy map
P.P.S. Whoever is tearing down Kevin Chapple’s brand new signs, stop it.  That really sucks and is completely disrespectful to democracy.  You know, like an unelected guy controlling an elected body despite the clear will of the voters.
